Shelbyville Power System was created by a private act of the state legislation on March 10,1939.Today Shelbyville Power System serves 9,943 accounts, with approximately 4,600 distribution transformers, on approximately 200 miles of 7,200 volt conductors.

Shelbyville Power System has two delivery points from TVA. The total capacity of the substations is 174 MVA.
